Privacy Policy — Guard SA

Guard SA ("we", "us", "our") provides a mobile application for South African security officers to manage their PSiRA-linked documents, shift and salary tracking, and job opportunities. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

To provide the app's features, we collect and store the following information that you provide directly:

• Registration details: name, surname, ID number, PSiRA grade, area number, phone number, email address, physical address, and gender.
• Documents you upload or scan: PSiRA certificates, CVs, legal liability certificates, SOP documents, training certificates, and maternity leave forms.
• Employment and shift information: company/site details, shift logs, leave and sick day records, pay cycle settings, and roster pattern.
• CV Builder content: personal details and photo you choose to include when building or editing your CV.
• Job board postings: if you post a job opportunity, the details you submit (area, closing date, position, requirements, salary).
• Account credentials: if you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile information Google provides for authentication.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide solely to operate the app's core features:

• Verifying your identity and account (registration, login, PIN verification)
• Storing and reminding you about document expiry dates
• Calculating your predicted salary based on PSiRA/NBCPSS rates, your logged shifts, leave, and sick days
• Displaying and processing job board postings and applications
• Sending you notifications (e.g. document expiry alarms, daily Verse of the Day)
• Routing complaints or rules-related issues to the CCMA or PSiRA with your details pre-filled, where you choose to use that feature
• Enabling communication with your manager via the contact details you provide

3. How We Store Your Information

Your data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud) and Supabase (PostgreSQL database hosting). We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services to function:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication and notifications
• Google Sign-In — optional login method
• Supabase — database storage

These providers may process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms, but we do not share your personal information with them for advertising or unrelated purposes.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account remains active. If you wish to delete your account and associated data, contact us using the details below.

6. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us. You may also update most of your details directly within the app's Settings page.

7. Children's Privacy

Guard SA is intended for use by registered or aspiring security officers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
